Season 4: Episode 79: Shakespeare
Theo and Cockroach must read Julius Caesar as part of a history unit about Rome. Denise and Dr. Foster both plan to come up from Hillman for a visit. Cliff decides to throw a barbecue, even though it is freezing outside. Clair agrees to allow this, as long as everyone can eat inside the house. Cliff and Clair learn that Denise dropped Dr. Foster's class after one day. Rudy writes a fairy tale, and is reluctant to let Vanessa read it because she always criticizes Rudy's work. Vanessa is appalled when Rudy names a dragon in the story after her. Russell brings a professor friend, Jonathan Lawrence, to the house so that he can meet Dr. Foster. Theo and Cockroach decide to skip dessert to study. When they reveal that they are reading Julius Caesar, Russell, Dr. Foster and Professor Lawrence begin acting out scenes from the play. After Rudy announces that she has finished her story, the men read it aloud for everyone. Vanessa is initially angry to find that she is now a witch in the story, but then learns that the character is a good witch. Theo and Cockroach tell Cliff and Clair that hearing the play aloud helped them understand the language. They perform a rap based on the play.
