Season 3: Episode 63: Rudy Spends the Night
Rudy spends the night at her grandparents' house. She is afraid, and repeatedly asks to go home. Russell and Anna are able to calm her by showing her some family photographs, teaching her "hipster" lingo, and letting her dress up in some old clothes and dance with them. Vanessa is thrilled when Denise lets her tag along to meet friends in Greenwich Village. They dress in Cliff's clothes to appear trendy. Theo anxiously awaits a call from Maxine Kirkwood and her friend Lana Herman, who have said they may ask for his help with a math assignment. When they do not call, Cliff tries to boost his spirits by organizing the first meeting of the "Huxtable Men's Club." They plan to eat hoagies and watch old movies. Lana and Maxine arrive at the house to surprise Theo, just as Denise and Vanessa are leaving. He thinks that Denise is teasing him, and wanders into the living room in his nightshirt to find the girls waiting for him. Maxine tells Theo that they do not need help with math; they actually came over because Lana likes him. He asks her out. Cliff encourages Theo to take the girls out to eat instead of staying for their meeting. Cliff eats the sandwiches alone, until he is called to the hospital for a delivery.
