Season 3: Episode 58: Denise Gets a D
Denise plans to go home for the weekend. She first picks up a paper from her English professor, and discovers that she has gotten a D on her third consecutive assignment. The professor recommends that she spend more time on her papers, and gives her a second chance. Sondra also makes a weekend visit, and the girls talk with Clair, who is laid up with a back injury. Denise tries to avoid any discussion of school after learning that Sondra is getting straight A's. Sondra and Theo later notice her defensive behavior and pry the truth from her. She is struggling in most of her classes. They persuade her to confess her problems to Cliff and Clair. Denise tells her parents that she has trouble completing her assignments because her professors don't remind her about deadlines, and that she has too much to do to focus on studying. Clair suggests that she be more organized, and gives her some tips on her paper. Meanwhile, Rudy objects when she is asked to play the wind in her dance recital; she wants to be the sun, which has the featured role. Cliff convinces her of the importance of her role, and Vanessa teaches her how to milk her bow for more applause.
