Season 2: Episode 36: Mrs. Westlake
Theo panics when his math teacher, the infamous Mrs. Westlake, calls the house and requests a meeting with Cliff. Cliff invites Mrs. Westlake and her husband over for dinner, leaving Theo mortified. He is certain that he failed that day's test, and feels that she is coming over because she wants to humiliate him in his own home. He also fears the embarrassment of having his friends discover that he ate dinner with a teacher. Theo is very surprised to discover that Mrs. Westlake is actually an attractive and interesting woman with a sense of humor. She explains that she actually called Cliff because she believes she is pregnant and wants to make an appointment. However, Theo still does not trust her. Over dinner, Mrs. Westlake recalls her tough background and explains that she pushes her students because she wants them to succeed. She calls Theo into the living room and reveals that he got an 89 on his test. Cliff and Theo discuss his study habits. He encourages Theo to continue studying all the time, rather than going back to cramming the night before exams.
