Season 2: Episode 35: Denise's Friend
Denise sets up an appointment with Cliff on a friend's behalf. She is experiencing a medical problem and is afraid to tell her parents. Cliff treats the girl, who is just suffering from a minor bladder infection. However, he is alarmed by the fact that she suffered from the problem for four weeks without talking to her parents. Cliff and Clair set up a meeting with Sondra, Denise, Theo and Vanessa and assure them that they can turn to their parents for help in any situation. The kids scoff at Cliff and Clair's claim that they will not get angry as long as they are told the truth. Denise sets off Clair by claiming that she once lied about a sleepover with a friend and spent the night at a boy's house. She then reveals that she was just kidding. Cliff and Clair admit that they may get angry at times, but still want the kids to be honest with them. Cliff balks when Clair suggests that they follow their own advice by telling their parents about a time early in their relationship when they skipped a church picnic to make out.
