The Huxtable kids begin another school year. Clair poses as a patient named "Mrs. Ogawa" and books an appointment with Cliff so that they can spend time together and celebrate their freedom from the children. Denise enters her senior year of high school, and is surprised when Cliff lets her go out with her friends without grilling her about her plans. Theo bemoans the fact that he has been assigned to a math class taught by Miss Westlake, who has been vilified by the kids for her no-nonsense attitude and heavy homework assignments. Vanessa pays extra attention to her appearance in the hopes of attracting boys, prompting her parents to worry that she is now a full-fledged teenager. First grader Rudy does not want to return to school after a boy calls her "Rudy Huckleberry." Cliff tries to cheer her up.
