Season 1: Episode 6: Breaking With Tradition
Cliff's father drops by for a visit. Theo takes the exhausted Cliff's order to keep away all visitors a bit too seriously and refuses to allow Russell into the house. A perplexed Cliff manages to straighten out the situation. Russell is pleased by Sondra's performance at Princeton, but desperately wants to see one of his grandchildren continue a family tradition by attending Hillman College. Denise has no real interest in Hillman, but Cliff convinces her to listen to Russell's sales pitch. She seems to change her mind after learning that there are eight men for every woman on campus. Cliff reveals that he only selected Hillman because he wanted to follow Clair to school. He refuses to allow anyone to share this with Clair, as he wants to save the information for a time when he is really in trouble.
