" Fargo" Snow Coens

There is only one thing you can do with all that snow...make snow coens!

You will need:

Green syrup :

  • 2-3 cups fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mint extract
  • green food coloring (optional)

Red and blue syrup :

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 combination wood chipper-ice crusher

Yellow syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • yellow food coloring (optional)

1. Green Syrup: Place chopped mint leaves in a saucepan and cover with cold water.

2. Bring to a boil; immediately remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve.

3. Return mixture to the saucepan over medium-high heat; add the sugar and bring to a boil.

4. As soon as the mixture begins to thicken, remove from heat and add the mint extract and the food coloring (if desired).

5. Red and Blue Syrup: Combine the sugar and water in a heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Boil the sugar and water together for 15 to 20 minutes.

6. Add the berries; return to a low boil and cook another 20 to 30 minutes or until the syrup starts to thicken.

7. Strain the liquid through cheesecloth into a mixing bowl, squeezing the fruit to press out all of the liquid.

8. Stir in the vanilla extract and refrigerate until use.

9. Yellow syrup: Combine the water, sugar and lemon zest; bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes.
10. Add lemon juice, strain and refrigerate.

11. Snow Coens: Grind ice in food processor or ice crusher.

12. Scoop into paper cups and bathe ice in syrup.

13. Get ready to get what you deserve.
