David on Tools
Expert David Boyd was kind enough to supply us with the following tips:
- A cordless combo kit is a great idea for the do-it-yourselfer. There are variations to each manufacturer, but the basics are a cordless drill, a circular saw, a reciprocating saw. The cordless drill and the circular saw are the two that will get the MOST use. The great thing about these are that you can continue to add as your skill level increases.
- If you are into motors you will need a good quality set of hand tools (ratchets, screwdrivers, wrenches) You want to get the best quality you can afford because you don't want to have to keep replacing them.
- I recommend having some kind of shop vacuum. I personally like having a clean work area. It's also a great safety precaution. And I'm sure the wife will like a clean garage as well.
