TURNER SPORTS
- Chip Caray is in his third consecutive year of calling Atlanta Braves baseball on TBS and his fifth year total on Turner Broadcasting’s networks. Caray spent the 1991-92 seasons announcing games on TBS and Turner’s SportSouth, a regional sports network, which has since been sold.
- Caray will call all 70 Atlanta Braves games on TBS this year as well as serve as the network’s lead play-by-play announcer for its exclusive coverage of the MLB Playoffs including all MLB Division Series Playoff games and the National League Championship Series.
- Caray contributed to TBS Saturday Night Football coverage in 2006, serving as the play-by-play voice for two games of the network’s Pac-10 and Big 12 conference coverage.
CAREER
- He served as the play-by-play announcer for seven consecutive seasons for Chicago Cubs games on WGN beginning in 1998.
- On May 13, 1991, the three generations of Carays - Harry, Skip and Chip - worked together on a Chicago Cubs/Atlanta Braves game.
- His baseball resume includes one season as the radio play-by-play announcer for Minnesota's Orlando (AA) affiliate (1990), two years broadcasting the Atlanta Braves (1991 - 1992) and three campaigns with the Seattle Mariners (1993 - 1995).
- Caray spent five years as a member of the Fox Network's Saturday baseball coverage (1996 - 2000), including three years as a studio host.
- His broadcast career also includes nine seasons as the television play-by-play voice of the NBA's Orlando Magic and stints calling both University of Florida and Florida State University football and basketball games for the Sunshine Network.
PERSONAL
- Caray graduated from the University of Georgia in 1987 and began his career with weekend TV sports anchor stints in Panama City, FL, and Greensboro, NC.
- Chip is a third generation Caray to serve as a play-by-play announcer. His father, Skip is one of the voices of the Atlanta Braves. His grandfather, Harry, was the play-by-play voice of the Cubs from 1982 – 1997. The Hall of Famer spent 53 seasons as a major league broadcaster.
- He and his wife, Susan, have three children: Summerlyn, Christopher and Stefan.
