After an accidental cryogenic freezing, 20th century pizza delivery boy Fry awakens at the dawn of the year 3000. With the help of his two new friends, a degenerate robot named Bender and a beautiful one-eyed alien named Leela, Fry searches for his place in this bizarre future. The first thing he does is track down his great-great-great-(etc.) nephew, the befuddled genius, Professor Farnsworth. Luckily, the Professor has a job offer for Fry and his new friends. At his intergalactic delivery service. He may not be able to escape his fate, but Fry's definitely in for the ride of his life.
Futurama is Matt Groening's clever follow-up to his wildly popular animated hit, The Simpsons. Like its predecessor, Futurama is hip and hilarious, thanks to its all-encompassing pop culture references, vivid animation, and frequent futuristic guest appearances (everyone from Pamela Anderson to Leonard Nimoy has voiced a disembodied head on this space sitcom). Central to this show's success, however, are its clever characters. With slacker Fry, the evil-but-lovable alcoholic robot, Bender, one-eyed super-chick Leela, and a host of others, the future is truly something to behold.
