Alfonso Ribeiro was born in New York, New York on September 21, 1971. Ribeiro began his career with a few guest spots on Magnum P.I. before being casted on the hit show Silver Spoons. After Silver Spoons, Ribeiro worked on a few television movies before landing the role of Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He even directed some of the shows episodes. Ribeiro continued to act after The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ended. He continued to appear in television movies and, in 2000, was the host of the show Your Big Break.
