No one who watches The Drew Carey Show has to wonder why Cleveland rocks…it's Drew! Fueled on Buzz Beer (beer with caffeine), working at the department store and battling Mimi, Drew shows us a slice of Ohio life that's hysterical and fascinating all at the same time.
Drew works in Human Resources at the venerable Winfred-Louder department store in downtown Cleveland. His co-worker, Mimi, gives new meaning to the term "cosmetically challenged." His friends Oswald and Lewis get experimental surgery for the money. And Kate can't seem to keep her job, or her man. The motley crew dispatches to the Warsaw Tavern practically every night to have some beers and catch up with the cast of characters that populate Drew Carey's version of middle America.
The Drew Carey Show breaks ground in a lot of ways - and we're not just talking about the frequent mishaps in Drew's house. The show often breaks into song (musical sitcom!) and features what was probably the first caffeine-fueled home-brewing operation in existence. The fun of The Drew Carey Show is in the actors and knowing that, as the audience, we're in on the joke!
When Drew started the show, it was obvious that it would reflect his personal interests. And since he's a rock and roll fan…well, the guest stars are stellar to say the least. Keep an eye out for musicians - in one episode alone, the guests include Dusty Hill (of the band ZZ Top), Jonny Lang, Lisa Loeb, Dave Mustaine, Rick Nielsen (of Cheap Trick), Joey Ramone, Slash (of Guns N' Roses), Michael Stanley, Joe Walsh (of The Eagles), Matthew Sweet and even fiddler Roy Clark. Did we mention that Cleveland rocks?
