To paint over dated and rough paneling, be sure to use a shellac based primer for better adhesion and less coats.
If you have dated speckled 1970's brick in your basement and don't want to remove it, a great alternative is to simply paint it out flat white using a roller for rough finishes.
Cork flooring is a great material for a space with both dogs and children. Its softer to the touch than hardwoods; however it is just as durable and is eco-friendly.
