Miss Joy is the #1 fan of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. She does a weekly recap of the new episodes and gives H.O.P. viewers a glimpse into episodes to come. She’s an avid watcher of sitcoms, loves writing and makes a mean broccoli and cheese cornbread casserole. But, don’t even think of asking her for the recipe!
Pitching for the Paynes
Hope you didn’t mind the interruption, but this week’s HOP episodes were moved because of Major League Baseball. HOP on TBS aired on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, but for this week only. The Paynes will be back on Wednesday next week in our regular spot at 8/7c!
This week we went back a ways to when Janine had a secret that even her family couldn’t believe. You all know what I’m talking about; the sneaking off, the strange phone calls, her borrowing money left and right and not paying it back. In “Down and Outted”, CJ discovered that his lovely wife was leading a double life – as an addict. She leaves home and Malik starts wearing a tutu at night. Curtis and CJ start to believe that Malik could be gay, but turns out the tutu just reminds him of his missing-in-action mom.
Friday’s episode is fave of mine. It’s a big “Surprise, Surprise” when Janine’s parents come looking for her only to discover that their precious daughter is somewhere in the streets! Liz and Larry are the most uppity in-laws, but when they can’t find a hotel room, they humble themselves and crash with the Paynes. Liz even sneaks into the kitchen at night to grab a piece of Ella’s fried chicken, which she wouldn’t let her husband touch earlier in the day. Differences aside, Janine’s parents are most worried about their daughter and the well-being of their grandkids Jazmine and Malik. If you’re a SUPERFAN of the show, then you know that that Liz and Larry come back in a later episode to take custody of the kids. Can you say DRAMA!
Next week Miss Claretha falls in love, CJ attracts a stalker named “Smokey” and the whole family goes in for therapy – now THE FANS have told me that’s one of their favorites, so don’t miss it next Wednesday.
