  • Dick Stockton serves as a play-by-play announcer for select MLB on TBS games. Stockton also served in the same role for the network’s exclusive coverage of the LDS since 2007.

  • Stockton has worked for Turner Sports as a NBA play-by-play announcer since the 1995-96 season. For the 2009-10 NBA season, he worked several regular season games for TNT’s Thursday night exclusive NBA coverage, as well as a full slate of playoff games.
CAREER

  • Stockton’s MLB experience includes calling Boston Red Sox baseball from 1975-78 and Oakland Athletics baseball in San Francisco from 1993-95. From 1990-92 Stockton called Major League Baseball games for CBS, including three American League Championship Series.

  • In 2001, Stockton received the Curt Gowdy Electronic Media Award from the Basketball Hall of Fame and received a CableAce nomination in 1997 for his Sports play-by-play work on TNT’s NBA coverage.

  • Stockton has spent 14 years as an NFL play-by-play announcer for FOX. He also served as a play-by-play announcer during FOX’s first NHL season in 1996.

  • Stockton has more than 40 years of experience as a professional broadcaster. He worked at CBS from 1978-94, calling NFL games and hosting “CBS Sports Spectacular” until 1980. In addition to his NFL work, he was CBS’ lead NBA announcer from 1982-90, working with NBA analyst Hubie Brown. Other CBS assignments included the Pan American Games; World Figure Skating Championships; boxing, swimming and diving, and alpine skiing at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France; and speed skating at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer. Stockton also called NCAA basketball games, including the first two rounds of the 1995 NCAA basketball tournament.

  • Stockton’s broadcasting career began in 1965 at KYW Radio and KYW-TV in Philadelphia. During this time he also called NFL and NCAA basketball games for NBC.
PERSONAL

  • Born in Philadelphia, Stockton received a degree in political science from Syracuse University in 1964.

  • Stockton is married to ESPN/ABC reporter and former Boston Globe writer, Lesley Visser.
